Protect your skin from the sun and other external aggressions.

The sun is our best friend in preventing vitamin D deficiencies, but it is also the main factor in the ageing of our skin. Exposure to the sun without sunscreen is responsible for the appearance of wrinkles, spots and skin diseases such as skin cancer. If you want to avoid premature signs of ageing, you should include a moisturiser with sun protection in your daily routine all year round. Do you want to know why?

Moisturiser with sun protection – how and when to protect yourself from the sun?

You need the sun to prevent vitamin D deficiency and osteoporosis. Experts advise 20 to 30 minutes a day to cover your daily needs. All other exposure to ultraviolet rays (UVB and UVA) is harmful. We are all aware of the need to protect ourselves from these ultraviolet rays when we go to the beach or the pool in summer, but what happens in winter or during the rest of the day when we are not “sunbathing”?

The sun hits every exposed area of your body, even when you are walking down the street. Experts agree that we should protect ourselves even in winter. Clothing protects the skin on your body, but what about your face? Cold, wind, temperature changes and pollution are also very aggressive factors for the skin on your face. And you must protect it.

Including a moisturising face cream in your daily routine with an SPF that is appropriate for the intensity of the sun and your skin type is the best guarantee to avoid the appearance of signs of ageing on your face.

What is SPF and what does it indicate? Degrees of protection.

The SPF (Sun Protection Factor) is the level of protection the sunscreen provides against UV rays. The number indicates the degree of protection it offers, although the difference between them is not as great as we might think.

According to the American Cancer Society, no sunscreen with an SPF provides total protection. So, let’s take a look at the degree of protection offered by each spf.

  • Sunscreens with spf 100. They filter out approximately 99% of UV rays.
  • Sunscreens with spf 50. They protect from 98% of the sun’s harmful rays.
  • Sunscreens with spf 30. Avoid 97% of UVB rays.
  • Sunscreens with spf 15. Filters out only 93%. The American Cancer Society warns that this factor only protects against sunburn, but not against cancer and ageing.

Also, bear in mind that if you bathe or sweat while doing sport, you will have to reapply the cream. Creams that state that they are waterproof should state how long they last, which can be between 40 and 80 minutes when swimming or perspiring. And remember, if you towel dry, you’ve washed off all the cream! So don’t forget to reapply each time.

Can I combine face cream with spf sunscreen?

Not only can you, but you should. Moisturisers with sun protection should be part of your daily routine at any time of the year. Toskani’s Sun Protection Cream and Sun Protection Cream Pro are 50 SPF moisturisers designed for all skin types (normal, dry and combination).

Sun Protection Cream Pro also includes retinol, one of the most potent forms of vitamin A against ageing. Retinol stimulates natural collagen production and accelerates cell renewal, fighting dark spots and wrinkles.

What to do in autumn to restore sun-damaged skin?

If you notice that your skin has lost its radiance after the summer, October and November are the best months to treat yourself to a professional treatment. Remember that after the cabin treatments, it is essential that you continue at home with a line of cosmetics that help prevent dehydration, flaccidity and the appearance of blemishes.

Toskani’s Radiance cosmetics range is designed to help you prevent facial ageing and prolong the beneficial effects of in-booth treatments.

Start your routine with Toskani Radiance ampoules or Toskani Radiance Mesoserum serum, whichever you prefer. Once absorbed, apply Radiance Daily Cream or Sun Protection Cream Pro with UV protection factors, and don’t forget to protect your eye contour with Radiance Eye Contour!

Taking care of your skin from other external aggressions

As we said at the beginning, the skin on your face is attacked by other factors in addition to the sun. Environmental pollution and blue light from screens also attack our skin without us even realising it.

They are also responsible for the premature appearance of the signs of ageing. They dry out the skin, destroy collagen in the dermis – an effect similar to that of UVA rays – and can cause oxidative stress in skin cells.

So what can you do? In addition to using a good moisturiser with sun protection and antioxidants. Toskani’s Anti-Pollution Ampoules are an intensive daily treatment with vitamins A, B3, C and E, known for their antioxidant effects.

Remember that the best way to prevent the signs of skin ageing on your face is protection. In addition to moisturiser with sunscreen, cover up with a wide-brimmed hat in summer, seek shade between 10am and 4pm when the sun’s rays are strongest and avoid tanning booths and sunlamps.
